How can we help students truly understand what happens during an MRI scan, without relying on scarce scanner availability?

In this interactive session, you will be introduced to eduMRIsim: a user-friendly, open-source MRI simulator specifically developed for educational purposes. The simulator mimics a clinical scanning environment, allowing students to experiment with scan parameters and directly observe their effect on image formation.

The workshop begins with a short presentation and live demonstration (10–15 minutes), providing insight into the development of the simulator and the key design choices. This is followed by an interactive discussion: what works in practice, what are the current needs in education, and how can this tool support them?

The simulator was developed in collaboration with MRI educators and has been positively evaluated for its user-friendliness and educational value. It offers an accessible way to make complex MRI concepts more tangible.
